Community Guidelines

The Overstock.com Community provides several platforms on which our members can interact, provide peer-to-peer assistance and share ideas for improving the Overstock.com experience.

As in any great neighborhood, a virtual community must have guidelines for behavior to ensure that its members can coexist peacefully. The first and foremost rule of our Community is RESPECT. While participating, users are expected to maintain a courteous and constructive presence. Offensive, abusive, or otherwise inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Overstock.com reserves the right to remove any content that it deems offensive, in violation of our Terms and Conditions, or counterproductive to the purpose of the Community. Additionally, Overstock.com may, at its sole discretion, warn, ban or disable the account of any user who violates our Terms and Conditions or policies.

You alone are responsible for the content you post and agree not to hold Overstock.com or its staff accountable for any content submitted by yourself or other members of the community. The following are examples of behavior that is not permitted and may result in the actions stated above.

By participating in our Community, you agree to refrain from:

• Posting material that violates the Overstock.com Terms and Conditions or Community Forums Policy.
• Encouraging other users to engage in any conduct that is in violation of the Overstock.com Terms and Conditions or Community Policies.
• Speaking on behalf of any person without their consent, or impersonating others, including Overstock.com Personnel or other members of the Community.
• Disclosing another user's email address, personal contact information, or any other information that violates another user's right to privacy.
• Posting private messages, email content or other conversations between private parties.
• Posting content that violates the copyright, patent, trademark or other intellectual property right of any party.
• Posting content that contains software viruses, computer code or any files that are designed to monitor, corrupt, damage, or limit the functioning of any software or hardware.
• Posting abusive comments, hate speech, threats, vulgarity, or otherwise disruptive material that is counterproductive to the forums' purpose.
• Posting material that is deemed obscene or pornographic in context (whether text, audio, or graphics).
• Repetitive forums posts and/or reposting any previously removed posts.
• Posting solicitations for one's own auctions or anyone else's, as designated by the Overstock.com staff or Community Guidelines.
• Posting solicitations, links or URL addresses related to any 3rd party or site that sells merchandise, except as designated by Overstock.com staff members.
• Reporting others frivolously.
• Posting in reference to, or reporting other users' violations publicly, whether proven or not. Please use the appropriate reporting links to report violations.

The report link for Overstock.com Auctions-related violations is on the left-hand side of the auction listing, underneath the Table of Contents box. The report link for Auction User violations is located at the bottom of each user's homepage.

• Posting in reference to the circumstances of a user who has been banned or whose account has been disabled.
• Attempting to sabotage a thread by intentionally going off topic.

Overstock.com may, at any time, implement additional guidelines for using the Community. Opinions, advice or statements expressed by members of the Community are not necessarily shared by and are not to be attributed to Overstock.com, Inc. or its staff and management. Participants are encouraged to exercise discretion and conduct their own research when receiving advice from other members.

All active participants of the Community Forums must be Registered Users.
